Q) How is your experience in operating in Rajasthan?
A) We had a good experience working in Rajasthan. It is generally
peaceful & the labour situation is quite good. The supply of Electricity is good, even though it is little
expensive. The city of Kota is located at crucial New Delhi to Mumbai
Rail Line. The states shares borders with some largest Markets of
North India – Gujarat, New Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. All these benefits make it ideal place for manufacture of Goods
and services. A little modernization and forward thinking by the Government can do wonders for the state.
Q)
How is the infrastructure in Rajasthan, according to you?
A) The infrastructure in general is good for small and medium
enterprises. The Road and Telephone network is excellent in Rajasthan. However, Much needs to be done to speedily
upgrade the rail lines to broad gauge. The Air Infrastructure is also
very limited. This means that even the Rajasthani Corporate
have made little investments in Rajasthan.
Q) Are the state policies towards small-scale industries/small
and medium size enterprises encouraging? What improvements do you think should be made?
A) The state policies generally keep hands off approach towards
business. Although the govt has, a few policies and subsidies in place, they generally don’t deliver. The state business
promotion policies are not followed even by the state bodies. Subsidies
are announced, but not delivered. Sometimes, very few that are
delivered are rolled back on flimsy grounds.
Q) In what areas do you think is the State lagging behind? How
can these be improved?
A) The very first thing that needs to change is the attitude of
the general government employee. They must realize that the Business is good for the general working of the economy and society.
While corrupt businessmen should be punished, honest businessmen should be helped. An International airport should be
developed in Jaipur, and an air network connecting all major
destinations should be put in place. The railways too need to upgrade to
Broad gauge soon. The state is rich in minerals & has high export potential. So a good rail network is paramount for growth.
Computerization of departments need to move at a faster pace.
